SOLUTIONS:

Colored pictures disappeared
If you don’t see any coloured pictures in your My Works gallery, please restart your device and see if that brings them back. If the pictures are not appearing after restarting either, please think back if you have done any of the following: start playing on a new device, updated your device’s operating system, delete and reinstall Recolor, cleaned up space from your device, or let other apps clean up space from your device? These actions could unfortunately result in the loss of Recolor data from your device and the disappearance of your pictures.

FOR ANDROID DEVICES:

Unfortunately, if you are a free user, your My Works pictures are only saved on your device locally, which means that if they have been lost because the data has gotten erased from your device for one reason or another they sadly cannot be recovered. We hope to provide a better backup system for Android devices in the future and are truly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.
As for the premium users, you can retrieve your pictures if you have enabled Google Drive backup system. Please advise this entry to get all the information on enabling and using this backup system.

FOR iOS DEVICES:

If you are using an iOS device, it is possible that your pictures are backed up in your iCloud and could be recovered. Please follow the steps below:
First, make sure you’re logged-in with the correct iCloud account you had on when you first installed Recolor. Your pictures should be saved in the cloud.
Go to the iOS settings – find ‘Recolor’ – make sure it has the ‘Use iCloud’ on. Then, go to the settings in Recolor and check the iCloud state in the settings. Make sure iCloud is all synced and everything is downloaded. Please note that this iCloud syncing process could be extremely slow sometimes. Leave the app open for 10 minutes or so and the pictures should come back.
Also, note that if your device is low on space or for some other reason, iCloud moves less used files to the cloud. In particular, this often happens after an update. Depending how many coloured pictures you have, re-downloading these to the app may take awhile. Just keep using the application normally and you should be able to retrieve them after a while. For this to happen less frequently, make sure you have sufficient amount of free space (100mb or more).
Published pictures/followers/following disappeared
If instead of your profile you see an empty profile, it is likely that you accidentally ended up in an empty duplicate account.
Please try logging out of your account from the Settings in Recolor (My Works -> Settings (top-left corner) -> Logout from Gallery) and then log in using your original login method – the same method you used when setting up your account (Facebook, Google or email).
Accidentally using the wrong login method can create a new, empty account. That’s why it’s important to use the same login method that you used when creating your account for the first time. This will let you get back to your original account where all of your published pictures, likes and followers are waiting for you.
If you can’t remember your original login method, please send an email to our support support@recolor.com with your username, email address associated with your account, description of your user picture and/or some of the last pictures you published and an estimation of how many likes your account had. With this information we can find your account and help you back in there.
Login issues
If you are not logged into your gallery account, you will be asked to log in when you try to use the social features of the app. Please use the same login method that you used when you created your account to access your account. The login methods are Google login, Facebook login and email login.
If you can’t remember your login method, please send an email to our support support@recolor.com with the following information: your username, email address associated with your account, a description of your user picture and/or some of the pictures that you last published, and an approximation of how many likes your account had. We can then find your gallery and check your login method for you to help you get back in there.
Recolor doesn’t work (app, pictures or ads do not load/open)
First, please try restarting the device.
If a simple restart doesn’t help, it’s a good idea to cold boot your device. To cold boot your device, hold down the Home button and Power button at the same time for at least 10 seconds until the phone restarts.
Check that you have enough free memory on your device, and clear function memory.
Check your internet connection.
If these do not help, please contact our customer support at support@recolor.com.
Notice that uninstalling is not recommended, as if there is no backup made, you can lose your My Works pictures. We recommend asking for advice from our support before uninstalling the app.
Why do my colors change when I finish coloring?
Please check to make sure that your Effect is set to “no effect”, Filter is set to “No filter” and Outline is set to “Black” and your picture will look exactly like it did in the coloring editor again.
Where do I get the latest news about Recolor?
You can get the latest news about Recolor in the Activity section in the app – either in your Notifications or the Newsfeed.
How do I update Recolor?
You can update your Recolor app by going to your App Store and finding an available update under the Updates section.
How do I take and send you a screenshot?
If you are unable to log into your account, unsure why some of your pictures were taken down or are encountering some technical issues, we will need you to send us some screenshots.
Taking screenshots on your device may differ from device to device.
Why is reinstalling not recommended?
If you are using an Android device, please DO NOT uninstall and reinstall your app because this will erase your My Works pictures and My Palettes. Only subscribers can use the Google Drive backup feature. Please note that your My Palettes are saved only onto your device and therefore will be deleted, even if you use the Google Drive backup feature.
If you are using iOS and if you’re willing to try reinstalling, just make sure that, before deleting, your iCloud backup is on – go to the iOS settings, find ‘Recolor’ and make sure it has the ‘Use iCloud’ on. Then, go to the settings in Recolor and check the iCloud state in the settings to make sure that iCloud is enabled. Make sure iCloud is all synced and everything is downloaded. This way you will be able to retrieve all your My Works when you reinstall. Please note that you will NOT be able to retrieve your My Palettes if you decide to reinstall the app, even if iCloud is on.
What to do if I want my picture removed from official Recolor social media?
Sometimes Recolor wants to show off your amazing colorings in our Facebook or Pinterest accounts, or other social media. If your picture is featured, your username is always credited as the creator.
If you would like us to remove the picture you have colored and published from our official social media, please contact our support at support@recolor.com.
To find the picture’s link, please tap on the ⋮ button next to your picture and choose ‘Open in browser’. Once the page is open, please copy the address of that web page and simply send it to us by email.

LOG IN:

How do I use Google login?

In the login window, choose Continue with Google. Make sure that you are logged into the correct Google account on your device either through your device’s settings or its web browser, because the login page automatically gets the details of this account.
Please note, you can only log in using the Google login if that is the method you used when creating your account.
If you see the wrong Google account in the login window or are logged into the wrong gallery account or an empty gallery account, please change the Google account and try again.

How do I use Facebook login?

In the login window, choose Continue with Facebook. Make sure that you are logged into the correct Facebook account on your device either through your device’s settings or its web browser, because the login page automatically gets the details of this account.
Please note, you can only log in using the Facebook login if that is the method you used when creating your account.
If you see the wrong Facebook account in the login window or are logged into the wrong gallery account or an empty gallery account, please go change the Facebook account you are logged into on your browser or device’s settings and try again.
How do I use email login?
To log in using the email login, please click on the purple login text on bottom right of the login screen, next to ‘Already have an account’. This will take you to the email login page where you will be able to put in your email address and your password.
Can I use different login methods to access my account?
To access your account, you need to use the same login method that you used when you first created your account. Using a different login method will create an empty duplicate account for you. If this happens, please log out of the wrong account and log back in using the correct login method.
Can I change the login method I use to access my account?
No. Unfortunately it is not possible at this time to change the login method or login email associated with your account.
What to do if I don’t get my verification email?
When you sign up using your email, you will receive an account verification link in an email. If you don’t see this email, please check your spam folder in case it has ended up in there. If it’s not there either, it is possible that you mistakenly typed your email wrong. In that case you will need to change your email address to Recolor.
To change your email, you will need to log out of your gallery and create a new account using the correct email. Don’t worry, your unpublished pictures will not disappear if you do this, they are saved on your phone/cloud and will remain in your My Works gallery while you log out of your account and log back in using the new one.
What do I do if I can’t remember my original login method?
If you can’t remember your login method, please send us an email to support@recolor.com with your username, email address associated with your account, description of your user picture and/or some of the pictures that you published last and an estimation of how many likes your account had. With this information we can find your account, check your login method and help you get back in there.
Can you help me get back into my original account?
Yes. Please contact our support with your username, email address associated with your account, description of your user picture and/or some of the pictures that you published last and an estimation of how many likes your account had. With this information we can find your account, check your login method and help you get back in there.
My account has been disabled by the administrator, what does it mean?
If your account has been disabled by the administrator, it’s because you have broken Recolor Community Guidelines by posting pictures or comments that are inappropriate. Please read the Community Guidelines very carefully and make sure that you follow the rules if you decide to make a new account in the future.
You can read the guidelines by clicking “Community Guidelines” on the settings.
You can also read them inside Recolor in the Activity Feed -> Newsfeed.
I typed in the wrong email, how do I change it so I get the verification code?
When you sign up using your email, you will receive an account verification link in an email. If you don’t see this email, please check your spam folder in case it has ended up in there. If it’s not there either, it is possible that you mistakenly typed your email wrong. In that case you will need to change your email address to Recolor.
To change your email, you will need to log out of your gallery and create a new account using the correct email. Don’t worry, your unpublished pictures will not disappear if you do this, they are saved on your phone/iCloud and will remain in your My Works gallery while you log out of your account and log back in using the new one.
What do I do if I logged in and am seeing an empty gallery?
It sounds like you accidentally ended up in an empty duplicate account. This can happen if you accidentally use a different login method than the one you used when first creating your account. Please log out and try logging back in using the correct login method (email, Facebook or Google login).
If you can’t remember your login method, please contact our support with the following information:
Your username
Email address associated with your account
Description of your user picture
Some of the pictures you last published
An estimation of how many Likes your account had received
With this information we will be able to find your account and check your login method for you so you can get back into your account.
How do I get a new password?
If you have forgotten your password, you can request a new one from the email login page. Please go to My Works – Settings – Login to Gallery and tap on ‘LOG IN’. This will take you to the email login page where you can fill in your email address and password, and there is a link to recover a forgotten password. A password recovery link will be emailed to you.
When you use Facebook or Google login you don’t need a separate password. If you have forgotten your Google or Facebook password associated with the account that you use to sign into Recolor, please use Google or Facebook password recovery function to recover the password.

VIDEO TUTORIALS:

Coloring tools
Tap-to-color
When you are in the Tap-to-color mode you can tap on areas of the picture to fill them with the color that you choose.
Slide-to-color
When you are in the Slide-to-color mode you can slide your finger across the screen and color everything it touches.
Where are the different brushes?
At this time there are no different brushes in Recolor. There are two different coloring options, the regular coloring and the crayons. With regular color palettes, you can fill the whole area in a picture with a simple click or a swipe. With crayons you can color as if you are using real pencils to color – Crayons let you add to the pictures, for example modifying the designs, adding shading or writing text, and crayons are also the best tool to color imports which don’t have clear black lines. When using crayons, you can toggle between softer regular crayons and sharper markers by clicking on the purple dot above the picture. To get a smaller line when drawing with crayons, zoom in close to the picture.
Gradients
Gradients are colors that change subtly from one color to another or from lighter to darker color. Where the darkest and the lightest colors will be, depends on where you touch the area of the picture, so try tapping different areas on different parts and see how they change!

Crayons

Crayons allow you to color as if you are using either chalk or a marker. You can get very creative, without coloring the whole area of the picture, as it works when coloring with solid colors or Gradients. Simply move your finger across the parts that you would like to color. We always recommend using Crayons when coloring imports.
You can switch to crayons from the palettes menu that opens from the white circle with colored dots inside it on the lower left side of your coloring mode.

Live colors

Live colors are colors that are moving and shifting in the picture while you are coloring. Please note that the colors will not be moving anymore once you publish your image. However, if you want to share your moving Live color creation with your friends, you can share it as a video on social media from the final screen.

How do I create my own colors?

You can create your own colors in My Palettes. You find My Palettes from the Palette menu that you can access by clicking on the circle with colored dots inside it on the lower left corner of your coloring editor.
When you first access My Palettes, you see empty palettes with just one clear circle in them. Tap on this clear circle and the color editor appears. On the bottom you see a row of different types of circles – these are the different color options you can choose from, from solid colors to different types of gradients and finally a metallic color. (Note: Free users can only create solid colors).
Tap on the style you want your color to be. For solids, there is a solid line of color under the rainbow circle which shows you the color you are creating. For gradients and metallics the line has a ball at each end of it – click on the ball that you want to set a color to first, set the color and then click on the ball at the other end to set that color.
The rainbow circle that lets you set your desired color has two wheels. The outer wheel lets you choose the color – slide the white circle along the circle to find the color that you like. The inside circle lets you choose the lightness/darkness of the color. Slide the white circle around to get the desired shade.
When you are happy with your color, click on the checkmark and your color is saved into your palette. You can edit the colors or delete them by double tapping on them to open the editor again, and you can create as many new colors as you want by clicking on the clear circles.

How do I add text on my pictures?

Crayons are the tool to use for this! Make sure to zoom in closer to the image to make smaller details, and try turning on the marker mode by clicking on the purple dot above your picture to get a brighter and sharper line that is ideal for writing.
How do people change the Recolor designs?
Our users use the crayons in very creative ways to modify, shade or add to our Recolor designs. Open the palette menu in the coloring screen by clicking on the white circle with colored dots in it on the lower left side of your screen and choose crayons from the menu. To toggle between regular crayons and brighter/sharper markers, click on the purple dot above the image. To draw small details, zoom in close to the image. The use of crayons takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of them only your imagination is the limit!

How do I switch between regular crayons and marker crayons?

The crayons have two modes: regular crayons and markers. The regular crayons make a softer, wider line and the markers are smaller, sharper and brighter in color. To switch between these different modes, click on the purple circle above your picture.
Eraser tool
At this time, there is no eraser tool. If you don’t like the color you have used and would like to try another one, you can either use the same color and tap again on the same area to remove the color or you can choose a different color and simply tap over the first one. Please note that this does not work with crayons!
You can also use the Undo button to remove the previous action – tap on the arrow placed left of the hand symbol above your picture in coloring mode.

RECOLOR PICTURES:

Why do others have pictures that I don’t find in the library?
Everyone has the same pictures in the Recolor Library. When you see pictures in other people’s galleries that are not from the Recolor Library, those pictures have been imported by the user.

Do you add new pictures to existing categories?

Yes. All Daily images go into the categories that are appropriate for them. While the pictures are recently added they can be seen both in the Dailies category and in their own categories. Once the pictures disappear from the Dailies category they can be found in their appropriate categories in the Library.

Who draws Recolor pictures?

We have a superb team of artists in our Helsinki office who work hard every day to keep bringing you the best coloring pictures.
How do I share my pictures with other Recolor users?

For imported pictures we cannot guarantee that they will have properly connected lines in them. Usually they don’t so when you tap on one place in the picture, the whole picture will turn into one color. This is why, for coloring imports, we always recommend using Crayons!

What’s the best way to color imports?

For coloring imports, we always recommend using crayons! You can find them in the white circle with colored dots inside it on the lower left corner of the coloring screen. When you tap on it, a menu with all of the colors and palettes available will open. Then simply tap on the ‘Crayons’ button and enjoy coloring!

SOCIAL FEATURES:

What are the social features of Recolor?

Recolor Gallery is a public gallery where you can share your colored pictures with other Recolorists. You can like other artists pictures and comment on the pictures.

How do I share pictures with the community?

When you have finished coloring a picture and want to share it with the community, go to your My Works page, tap on the picture and from the menu that pops up choose “Publish to gallery”. This publishes the picture to your public gallery for others to see.

Who sees the pictures I share?

Pictures that are posted to Recolor gallery are public and visible to everyone. Everyone else who uses the Recolor app can see your pictures – and your pictures are also publicly on the Recolor website. Furthermore, anyone with your gallery link can view your gallery. Please keep this in mind when you post pictures or comments into the community – everything that you post is public.

Is Recolor a social media?

Recolor is not a social media, but a coloring application with social features. The purpose of Recolor is to give art lovers from around the world a place to connect. The social features of Recolor include sharing colorings, liking pictures and commenting on pictures.
Users can upload their own profile picture and share a short bio where they tell something about themselves to the community. Personally identifiable information should not be shared in the profile or anywhere else in the public galleries.
Comments
The comment feature is an amazing opportunity to connect with like-minded artists all around the world and share your enthusiasm about art. Share your comments, compliments and art tips with others, and get to know your fellow colorists by chatting with them.
When you comment, post the kind of comments that you would like others to post on your pictures. No spamming, no bullying etc. The Community Guidelines apply to comments as well.
Likes
With Likes you can show your appreciation for other Recolorists’ work! Tap on the heart underneath a picture you like and it will turn red – and you just gave the picture a like. The artist will see in his or her activity that you have liked their picture and it will make their day.
The number behind the heart shows you how many likes the picture has received.

What is the Official Recolor Challenge group?

The Official Recolor Challenge group is a safe space we’ve created on Facebook for our brilliant users! Each Monday we are posting a new Weekly Challenge and each Wednesday we are posting a new Special Challenge that anyone with Recolor app can join!
Weekly Challenges usually include one free and one premium picture from our growing library. Special Challenges include one free and one premium picture from one of our Campaigns (Spotlight, Events, or Collections). It is important to note that we are always including free content so both free and premium users can join!
Each week we are also announcing winners whose stunning artwork is featured in the Challenge Group. We can’t wait for you to join our amazing community!

HIGHLIGHTS AND CAMPAIGNS:

How do I get my picture in the Highlights?

The Highlights page features the most liked pictures from all of Recolor galleries. The pictures that are featured in this gallery are the ones that receive the most likes in the shortest amount of time within 24 hours of being published. Artists whose pictures make it to the highlights page are usually Recolorists who have been creating art for months and spend a lot of time interacting with others in the community in a positive manner.
Please do not spam others with comments that are asking for likes, follows or shoutouts because this is considered spamming and is against the rules. There is no shortcut, a quick way or a trick to the highlights. Keep creating art that you enjoy looking at, interact meaningfully with others in the community and one day you might see your pictures in the highlights.

What is the Spotlight?

Spotlight is the gallery where every week you will be able to see twelve new pieces of art by twelve different Recolorists. From the Spotlight page you can directly access the profiles of featured users so you can follow your favorites. Spotlight also makes one premium picture a week free for everyone, and premium users can click any picture in Spotlight to open it and start coloring their own version.

How do I get to the Spotlight?

You can get to the Spotlight by simply doing what you are already doing – relaxing, coloring and expressing yourself! Spotlight is not about the amount of likes, following a certain formula or competing with others – it is about showing off the amazing variety, creativity and artistic vision that makes up the Recolor community.
Everyone has an equal chance to be featured – as long as you have a Recolor account and share your colorings, you can make it into Spotlight.

What are Events?

Events are the galleries where you can choose between 4 pictures in the specific theme for coloring. You can color the pictures according to instructions for a chance to be featured in an Event gallery, available through a banner in the app. All versions of the Event pictures published during the Event are eligible for being featured.
At the end of the stated time period, the Recolor Team chooses and features pictures that best capture the theme. From the Event gallery, other users can access the featured artists’ galleries.
If you are a subscriber, you will be able to color all of the pictures available. If you are a free user, the events don’t always have free pictures. We recommend you start your free trial to unlock all the pictures. Just please remember to cancel it at least 24 hours before it ends, in case you do not want to continue your subscription.
Note: If you have already colored the pictures shown in the Event before, and since only the pictures that are published during the Event will be considered, you will have to re-publish those pictures within the Event dates in order to take part in the Event.

Where can I find the Events page?

We cannot wait to see your beautiful, creative artwork!
Can the pictures that were featured in the past Event be found in the Library?
You can find the featured pictures at any time in the different Library categories, depending on the theme of the Event.

SAFETY:
What do I do if I’m being bullied?
If you are experiencing bullying in the community, the first thing is to ignore the bullies. Don’t respond to their comments and don’t let them provoke you into making inappropriate comments yourself. Take the following steps instead:
Block them from commenting on your pictures. You can do this by tapping on the three dots at the side of their comment and choosing Block user. Please make sure to block them before deleting the comment, because you can only access this menu when you still have the comment.
Report the abusive comments. You can report comments from the three dots at the side of the picture.
We will investigate all reports of bullying. Please be patient with us and make sure you don’t answer the bullies comments and escalate the situation further while we’re investigating.
What do I do if I am worried about someone’s safety?
Provide immediate help: If you know the user personally, have their personal information and believe they are in immediate danger, please contact the local authorities. If you don’t know them personally, urge them to contact the authorities or a helpline. If there is no immediate danger or you’re unsure about how immediate the danger is, urge them to contact a helpline.
If the threat isn’t immediate or you don’t know where the person is located, here are things you can do:
Report pictures: You can report pictures that worry you from the three dots at the side of the picture. All reported pictures are reviewed and when pictures referencing self-harm, suicide or depression are encountered, we review the person’s gallery and reach out to them via email with helpful resources.
To bring the user to our attention faster, please send us also a message by email (support@recolor.com) with subject line “SUICIDAL USER”.
Provide resources: The fastest way to help someone is to direct them to the helpful resources we have gathered for them. These are free, confidential online and phone helplines that anyone can reach out to, run by trained professionals who know how to help.

Can you ban someone from the community?

Users who violate the Community Guidelines repeatedly or in a drastic enough manner that they need to be removed immediately will be banned from the galleries. The decision to disable an account is not taken lightly and accounts will only be disabled when there is a reason to do so.
We will not ban users just because another user asked us to. If you have an issue with another user, please report the inappropriate comments or pictures that they have posted. You can also email us with screenshots of their mean comments or inappropriate behavior. All accusations will be investigated and required action is taken to ensure the community’s safety.

Why was my account disabled by the administrator?

If your account was disabled, it’s because you didn’t follow Recolor’s Community Guidelines and continued to post inappropriate content despite the warnings you received. Please read the Community Guidelines before you continue posting once the ban is lifted. Bans can also be permanent.
When you receive a warning or your account is banned for a time or disabled permanently, you will receive a message telling you which rules you broke.
Recolor is an app for users 13+. If you are suspected to be under the age limit, your account will be disabled. If you are over 13 and your account was disabled because of this, you can contact Customer Support through the app Settings for instructions on how to confirm your age.

How to report inappropriate pictures or comments?

You can report a comment from the three dots at the side of the comment. When you tap on it, a menu will pop up that will let you report the comment as inappropriate, harassment or hate speech, or threatening content. Comments must follow the same community guidelines as everything else that is posted to Recolor galleries.
If there is an inappropriate comment or conversation, always report the comments involved in the exchange. Do not report the picture where the comments are instead because then only the picture will be checked – to make sure that the comments are checked by us please make sure to report at least one comment itself.
Please don’t report pictures of a user who left rude comments elsewhere in the community, but instead report the comment in question so we will know why you are reporting the user and can take further action.
When it comes to pictures, it is upsetting to see inappropriate images and we definitely do not allow them in our gallery. However, it is impossible for us to monitor everything that happens in the gallery/community and so we rely on the reports just like any other community.
Use the Report function found in the corner of every picture if you think the content is inappropriate.

How do I block someone?

You can block another user if they have commented on your pictures. At the right corner of the comment there are three dots – click on these and a menu with options to block the user or delete the comment shows up. Please be sure to block the user before deleting the comment, as you need the comment to be able to access this menu. Once you have blocked the person you can delete the comment.
How do I unblock someone I blocked?
To unblock someone that you have blocked before, go to your Settings – Blocked Users and tap unblock for those users you would like to unblock.
